Randall S. Hansen, Ph.D.
Dr. Randall Hansen's Service Philosophy
While distinctive teaching is most certainly my top priority, I count service -- to the
school, university and greater community -- as extremely important and valuable.
I am proud of the amount and quality of my service -- at a level of performance
that is certainly noteworthy; I have been recognized by my colleagues at Stetson
and elsewhere as someone who works diligently, honestly, and professionally.
Specifically, my major areas of contribution are as follows.
Service to the School of Business Administration
Since receiving tenure and promotion in 1998, I have continued to serve the
School of Business Administration in a number of ways, offering my assistance
and leadership in a variety of roles:
- BN109 Leadership, 2005 to present
- School of Business Administration Marketing Coordinator, 2005 to present
- Admissions assistance (mainly through Open Houses), 1998 to present
- Faculty Development Committee Chair, 2001 to 2007
- Marketing Department Acting Chair, July 1999, 2000
- Business School Building Committee Member, 1998 to 2000
- Lynn Letter Editor, 1998 to 2000
- Curriculum Committee Member, 1998 to 2000
Service to Stetson University
Since earning tenure and promotion in 1998, I have served the University in
ways that have used my strengths and fostered efforts to build bridges
among the various schools and colleges within the University:
- Quintessential Art of Business Award Co-Founder and Sponsor, 2002 to present
- Real World Panel Organizer, 2002 to present
- Artists and Lecturers Committee Member, 2001 to present
- Stetson Marketing Association Chapter Adviser, 2003 to 2007
- Human Subjects Committee Chair, 2000 to 2001
- Human Subjects Committee Member, 1998 to 2001
- Academic Computing Committee, 1998 to 2000
Service to the Greater Community
Since receiving tenure and promotion in 1998, I have endeavored to
build the name and reputation of the University while attempting to
contribute to the greater community through two outlets:
- National City Bank Volusia County Advisory Board Member, 2003 to present
- Career Expert (Straight Talk About School, Career Doctor Column), 1998 to present.
Other Service Commitments
Much of my other service work to the University centers around students --
current, prospective. or alumni Over the years, I have participated in an
average of one admissions open house a year and met with countless soccer
recruits and their families. I have been involved in advising for SOAR and
FOCUS, participated in career-related events, guest lectured in various classes,
and been an invited guest (and sometimes speaker) at various student events.
I have attended numerous alumni events and conducted much career
counseling with numerous alumni.
